Hurricane Felix

I take a visit to Matthew’s new workshop and get over – excited as he points to a pallet of wood and tells me “that’s your hotel”. As if that isn’t enough, he then tells me that the wood is not only Rainforrest Alliance certified but it has come on an arduous journey from the North East corner of Nicaragua where Hurricane Felix struck. Apparently, the government wouldn’t allow removal of the felled trees so the Ponsons (owners of Morgan’s Rock) bought a tract of land there in order to take ownership of the felled trees so that they could be used for the wood and thus the area also cleared for the local people. One day I will make that arduous journey myself, armed with camera and so be able to tell the story of the wood.
